We are a long established professional hire company, servicing the celebration, and event sector. Based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, within minutes of the M1, we operate throughout the UK.


We know what the customer needs. From initial consultation, through to the event itself, we are with you every step of the way. All our equipment is delivered, setup, and collected by ourselves. We can even have a technician on site throughout your big day, if you wish.


When shopping around with a view to hiring an equipment provider, you will find a whole host of companies offering you their services. These days, DJ’s, marquee companies, florists, and venue dressers all seem to offer starcloths, illuminated letters, PA systems, uplighters, etc. It can be a bit overwhelming! And disappointing. 



With more than thirty years experience in the hire sector, we are experts at what we do. We will help you make the right choices, whether over the phone, during a consultation at our premises, or at a  site meeting at the venue of your choice.

Rather than list a set hire price for each item, we issue a customised quote for each enquiry we receive. Each quote shows the cost of the items required, including any labour costs incurred in their setting up, and the cost for delivery and collection, so that you know exactly what you are paying for.


We know that many vendors have a fixed price per item which includes a certain amount of delivery mileage, say 20 or 30 miles, with additional mileage being charged at around £1 per mile. This often works out more expensive, especially if you want more than one service or product, as the transport costs are duplicated on each item.


Pricing our way means we are usually cheaper than other providers, while offering a superior service.

Event Light & Sound is owned and run by Keith Harper, who has more than 30 years’ experience as a professional lighting designer. He is a member of both the Production Services Association and the Association of British Theatre Technicians. He also holds professional designer status with the Association of Lighting Designers. Keith is involved with every commission, regardless of size, and brings years of specialist knowledge to your event, to make sure things run smoothly, and to plan.
